El metanol (algunos incluyendo agua desmineralizada) después de presurizado, de evaporado y de haber sobrecalentado a cierta temperatura, se alimenta en un reactor, donde los gases que se agrietan incluyendo H2, CO se forman bajo acción del catalizador.
