Polyetherimide, PEI for short, is an amber transparent solid. It has inherent flame retardancy and low smoke without adding any additives. The oxygen index is 47%, the combustion grade is UL94-V-0, and the density is 1.28~1.42g/cm3.

performance:
1. PEI has strong high-temperature stability. Even non-reinforced PEI still has good toughness and strength. Therefore, PEI's superior thermal stability can be used to make high-temperature and heat-resistant devices.
2. It has excellent mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, radiation resistance, high and low temperature resistance and wear resistance, and can transmit microwaves.
3. PEI also has good flame retardancy, resistance to chemical reactions and electrical insulation properties. The glass transition temperature is very high, reaching 215ºC.
4. PEI also has very low shrinkage and good isodirectional mechanical properties. Adding glass fiber, carbon fiber or other fillers can achieve the purpose of enhanced modification; it can also be combined with other engineering plastics to form a heat-resistant polymer alloy, which can be used for a long time at a working temperature of -160~180ºC.

Application

 

Replacing metal in manufacturing optical fiber connectors can optimize the component structure, simplify its manufacturing and assembly steps, and maintain more precise dimensions. Used in the automotive field, such as manufacturing high-temperature connectors, products, high-power car lights and indicator lights, sensors to control the external temperature of the car cabin and sensors to control the air and fuel mixture. It can also be used as a vacuum pump impeller that is resistant to high temperature lubrication and erosion, a ground glass joint (socket interface) for a distiller operating at 180°C, and a reflector for non-illuminated anti-fog lamps.
