Description:Calcium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2 and a molecular weight of 74.10. It is commonly known as slaked lime or hydrate lime. It is a white hexagonal powdered crystal. Density 2.243g/cm3. Loss of water at 580°C to CaO.
After calcium hydroxide is added to water, it is divided into two layers, the upper aqueous solution is called clarified lime water, and the lower suspension is called lime milk or lime slurry. The upper layer of liquid clarified lime water can be used to test carbon dioxide, and the lower layer of turbid liquid lime milk is a building material. 1. Calcium hydroxide is used as an environmentally friendly neutralizer for acid wastewater, sewage treatment, boiler flue gas desulfurization.
