The Y-coding is a hybrid mating face for M12 circular connectors with four data and four power contacts.

Data transmission is comparable with the D-coding. Power transmission is comparable with the M12 A-coding. M12 Y-coded connectors are used for I/O boxes and network components for Fieldbus and EtherCAT.
